After years away, The Hairy Times is back in the game — and the world gave us plenty to write about while we were gone.
Let’s not pretend you need us to tell you things are complicated right now. You already know. You feel it every time you scroll through your news feed, every time a conversation at the dinner table turns sideways, every time you catch yourself wondering what’s actually true and what’s been packaged to make you feel a certain way.
That feeling? That’s exactly why we’re here.
What The Hairy Times Is
We are a fact-based, opinion-forward publication that is not afraid to call things out — but has no interest in tearing anyone down. We believe in the difference between those two things, and we think that difference matters enormously right now.
We research. We use multiple sources. We look at both sides of an issue — not to give equal weight to things that don’t deserve equal weight, but because understanding the full picture is the only way to form an honest opinion. When we share our conclusions, we’ll show you how we got there. Links, sources, the whole trail. You should never have to just take our word for it.
We know Americans are more divided than ever. That’s not an opinion — it’s a measurable fact, and it’s one of the things that keeps us up at night. Our goal is not to fuel that division. Our goal is to cut through it — with information, with honesty, and occasionally with a well-timed joke, because if you can’t laugh at some of this you’re going to lose your mind entirely.
Who’s In the Newsroom
We’ve assembled what we believe to be one of the most uniquely qualified — and uniquely named — teams in journalism. Harry Tukis covers the political landscape with the eye of someone who has been paying attention for a very long time. Bea Little will make powerful people feel very small when they deserve it. Dick Latete is here for every infuriating everyday moment that doesn’t make headlines but drives us all crazy. Hope Sinourheart will remind you, when things get heavy, that there is still something worth holding onto.
And those are just a few of them. Meet the full team here — and yes, the names are intentional.
A Promise to Our Readers
We will get things right. When we don’t, we’ll say so — openly, without spin, without burying the correction on page seven. We will label opinion as opinion and fact as fact. We will not pretend certainty we don’t have. We will not tell you what to think — but we will give you everything you need to think for yourself.
We will provoke thought. We will not provoke anger for its own sake. We will educate without being preachy. We will be edgy without being cruel. We will be the paper you forward to someone after reading and say — did you see this?
These are Hairy Times. Welcome to The Hairy Times.
