Because these are genuinely Hairy Times.
Not hairy in the way your grandfather’s back was hairy. Hairy in the way that matters — complicated, uncomfortable, and impossible to look away from. The kind of times that demand clear eyes, honest voices, and the occasional facepalm.
We write because we care about this country and this world. We write because we’re concerned — deeply, specifically, and with evidence to back it up. We write because somewhere along the way, too many people stopped getting straight answers, and we think that’s a problem worth doing something about.
We write from the heart to reach the head in hopes of touching the soul.

What We Believe
We believe an informed citizen is the most powerful force in a democracy. Not an outraged citizen. Not a frightened one. An informed one — someone who understands what’s actually happening and why it matters to their daily life. That’s who we’re writing for.
We believe facts are not political. We believe accountability is not an attack. We believe you can call something out without tearing someone down, and we try to prove that every time we publish.
We believe the news doesn’t have to be a punishment to read. Some of what we cover is serious. Some of it is absurd. Some of it — and we say this with great affection — is both at once. We’ll give you the truth and we’ll try to make it worth your time.
How We Operate
Everything we publish is grounded in fact. We clearly label opinion as opinion. When analysis goes beyond what the facts strictly prove, we’ll tell you. When a story relies on unverified information, we tag it as such — because we think you deserve to know the difference.
On unnamed sources: we use them occasionally, applying the same standard our current administration does. Which, now that we think about it, means we’re probably using them more than we’d like.
Our reporters have distinct voices and genuine opinions. That’s intentional. A reporter without a perspective is just a transcription service. We want you to think — and sometimes the best way to get someone thinking is to give them something to push back against.
We will sometimes get things wrong. When we do, we’ll correct it — openly, without burying it at the bottom of page seven. And yes, Harry occasionally goes rogue. We’ve accepted this. You will too.
What We’re Not
We are not here to tear people down. We are not here to confirm what you already believe. We are not here to make you angrier than you already are — though some of what we cover may, understandably, have that effect.
We are not a political instrument. We call it as we see it, across the board, and we apply the same standard to everyone regardless of which team they’re on.
What We’re Here For
To inform you. To engage you. To occasionally make you laugh, roll your eyes, or mutter something under your breath at your phone. To give you the tools to make up your own mind.
These are Hairy Times. We think you should know what’s really going on.
