The Journey starts now. The world is a lot right now.
You feel it. I feel it. We all feel it — in the headlines, in the conversations we tiptoe around, in the constant hum of anxiety that seems to follow us from morning coffee to late‑night doomscrolling. The news cycle is relentless, the problems are complex, and the outrage is exhausting. Somewhere between trying to stay informed and trying to stay sane, most of us are just trying to keep our heads above water.
That’s exactly why The Hairy Times exists.
Not to add more noise. Not to fuel more outrage. Not to push you into another algorithmic spiral.
This place was built for something different — a space where we can actually think, actually learn, and maybe, just maybe, stay engaged with the world without losing ourselves in the process.
And that’s where The Journey begins.
Why I Started This — And Why You’re Here
I’m Andrew Hahn, and I started The Hairy Times because I was tired. Tired of shallow coverage. Tired of partisan theatrics. Tired of feeling like every piece of news was designed to make me either furious or hopeless.
I’ve spent years traveling, observing, studying, and trying to understand how different cultures confront the same challenges. I’ve watched patterns repeat across continents and decades. And I realized something simple but important:
The truth is out there — but it’s buried under so much noise that most people just give up.
We can’t afford to give up.
Not now. Not with everything happening in our country and our world. Not with the stakes as high as they are.
So The Hairy Times was built to cut through the noise — with honesty, with clarity, with humor, and with a commitment to facts that doesn’t require pretending to be “objective.” We’re opinion‑forward, fact‑grounded, and unapologetically human.
But even that isn’t enough.
Because staying informed takes a toll. It wears you down. It chips away at your peace. It makes you question whether staying engaged is worth the emotional cost.
That’s why The Journey exists.
The Journey Is Yours As Much As Mine
This isn’t just my story. It’s yours. It’s everyone’s who finds their way here.
We’re all navigating something — stress, uncertainty, frustration, hope, purpose, burnout, resilience. The Journey is a place to acknowledge that. To breathe. To reflect. To grow. To remember that we’re not walking alone.
And to help guide us, The Hairy Times has a Sage — Gandhirew.
He’s not a gimmick. He’s not a character for entertainment. He’s the steady voice in the noise. The philosophical counterweight to the chaos. The reminder that wisdom matters just as much as information.
His dispatches will live alongside your Journey posts — two voices, two perspectives, one shared purpose: to help us stay centered while we stay informed.
Who We Are — And How This Site Works
If you’re new here, visit the Meet the Writers page. Every writer you see — Harry, Jim, Bea, Eggy, Seymour, Hope — is a facet of me. Different angles of the same mind. Different lenses on the same mission.
This isn’t a traditional newsroom with competing egos. It’s a focused operation where each voice handles a specific domain:
Each one contributes to the same goal: helping you understand what’s happening and why it matters.
The Back Page: Your Research Hub
This is where The Hairy Times becomes more than a publication — it becomes a resource.
The Library
Not just book recommendations. This is where I store the documents, legislation, research, and reference materials I actually use when writing. If you want to fact‑check me, start here. If you want to go deeper, start here. Transparency isn’t a slogan — it’s infrastructure.
The Arts Page
Culture, creativity, commentary. Music, film, visual arts, and the stories behind the work that moves us. Art isn’t frivolous — it’s how we stay human.
The Classifiedshttps://thehairytimes.com/the-classifieds/
Yes, the ads. Running a publication costs money. If you see something useful, consider supporting the cause. Or make a donation. It keeps the lights on and the articles coming.

Here’s what I’m asking:
Be part of this. Comment. Question. Push back. Share your expertise. Help shape the conversation.
The Hairy Times works best when it’s not just me shouting into the void, but when we’re building something together — a community of people who care enough to stay informed, think critically, and engage meaningfully with the world.
I know you’re tired. I know the world feels heavy. I know some days it’s easier to log off and disappear into distraction.
But we need you in the game. Because the problems are real — but so are the solutions. The corruption is deep — but so is human resilience. The challenges are overwhelming — but so is our capacity to meet them.
And that’s why The Journey exists — not just for me, but for all of us. A place to breathe. A place to think. A place to grow. A place to remember that we’re not walking alone.
Welcome to The Hairy Times — and The Journey Starts Now.
